  • Can Southside Fencing remove and dispose of our old fence?
    Yes, Southside Fencing can handle the demolition and disposal of your old fence.
  • Can Colorbond retain soil?
    No, Colorbond Fencing cannot retain soil as it will cause corrosion on the steel sheets and rails. The issue can be solved using aluminium retaining plinths which can fit in the Colorbond system.
  • Does my neighbour need to pay for half of our dividing fence?
    In most cases, if the fence is in need of repair then both parties are required to pay an equal share of the cost to fix/replace it. It is important to check with your local government and the Dividing Fences act in Australia.
  • Will my broken fence by covered by home insurance?
    Generally, most insurance companies will cover accidental or unexpected damage to your fence in the damaged section of the fence only. For claims on a dividing fence, most insurance companies will pay for 50% of the total cost of the repair/replacement.
  • The neighbouring property is government land, will they need to share the cost of the fence?
    Most of the time, the home owner is responsible for 100% of the cost of the fence if it is shared with council/government land. It is always important to check with your council as rules change from area to area.
